The translation and adaptation of tests and assessments (and all that it entails) is one of my favorite topics. That’s why today I’d like to highlight some of the blog’s most popular posts discussing the ins and outs of translating and adapting tests and assessments, including some best practices.

First, a definition of terms helps ensure that we’re all on the same page. What do we mean when we talk about test translation and test adaptation, or the different types of test adaptation? Learn more in our post entitled “The Whats, Whys and Hows of Test Translation and Test Adaptation.”

Sometimes translating and adapting a test or assessment is a legal requirement, but other times it just makes good sense for your organization. Learn about some of the “Reasons to Adapt a Test or Assessment” here.

Why do we do what we do? The foundation of Responsive Translation’s translation and adaptation work can be found in the International Test Commission’s “ITC Guidelines for Translating and Adapting Tests.” But like the field itself, the guidelines have evolved over time. Fairness is one of the basic principles in testing, but ensuring a fair test isn’t so simple.
